How we source
Every health or development claim on ParentWise traces back to a major pediatric or public-health body. We don't invent statistics and we don't publish advice those bodies don't support.
- American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), HealthyChildren.org
- Fever thresholds, safe sleep (2022 policy), feeding, teething, tantrums, toilet training, screen time, childproofing.
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” milestone checklists (2022), hand, foot and mouth disease, injury prevention.
- NHS (UK)
- Rashes in children, fever, nappies and poo, weaning, potty training, SIDS risk reduction.
- World Health Organization (WHO)
- Complementary feeding and screen time / sedentary behaviour for under-5s.
- NICE guideline NG143
- Fever in under-5s: traffic-light assessment approach.
- American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM)

- American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)

- US FDA and CPSC
- Teething product warnings, furniture anchoring and product safety.
How we write “when to call”
Our red, amber and green tabs follow the logic of the NICE traffic-light system and AAP HealthyChildren “When to call the pediatrician” guidance. When sources differ (for example, US and UK thresholds), we show the more cautious one.
Guidance changes. We reviewed every page in September 2026. If you spot something out of date, trust your pediatrician over us.
